Which wineries near Chișinău are worth visiting?

In short: Cricova and Mileștii Mici are both under 30 minutes from the centre and can be done in one day. For something smaller and more personal, Et Cetera is an hour away.

The two underground wine combines — Cricova and Mileștii Mici — are why many visitors come to Moldova at all. Both are guided, both have tens of kilometres of galleries, and both want a booking at the weekend.

Cricova: a minibus tour through the galleries, a stop at the Golden Collection, a tasting in the stone-carved reception rooms. There is a family version too, with grape juice for children.

Mileștii Mici: the largest wine collection on Earth by Guinness World Records, toured on an electric train.

Et Cetera: a family winery making limited batches from indigenous grapes, with tastings in a room overlooking the vines. The right choice if you would rather have a conversation than a tour.
